School Details
Lincoln-West is rooted in the global community of Cleveland’s Near West Side, where scholars enjoy a a college prep biomedical curriculum alongside classmates from eight language groups, guided by educators proficient in 14 languages.
Formerly Lincoln West School of Science & Health, the Building Brighter Futures process has determined that operating the two LW schools as one will allow every student to access:
- Career pathways in Allied Health & Nursing, Business & Administration, and Health Information Management.
- College credit courses, electives, and the ability to pursue an honors diploma.
- A range of extracurricular activities including participation in Senate League sports.
Students learn in classrooms within the MetroHealth campus, and explore careers in both the hospital system and in agencies that support the healthcare industry in Cleveland. MetroHealth professionals serve as mentors and students have access to internships and networking. This innovative approach addresses the lack of diversity in healthcare by preparing graduates to understand and serve patients within the context of culture, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and socioeconomic realities.
Scholars can gain the knowledge and hands-on experience that empowers them to excel in college and launch successful careers in healthcare. These career pathways will develop critical thinking, language proficiency, and ownership of learning through blended instruction, small-group learning, community-based projects, and strategic partnerships locally and globally.
