Whitney M. Young students prosper in a positive, child-centered environment. Faculty and staff collaborate with families to help students achieve academic success and build strong cognitive, social, and creative skills. Our school offers a personalized learning model that focuses on the individual scholar, rigorous online and virtual learning programs, problem-based learning, lunchtime mentoring, and a focus on restorative practices and emotional learning to reduce out-of-school suspensions.
Whitney M. Young has services for students with mild to moderate learning and behavior issues, including classrooms for students with multiple disabilities, autism, or emotional problems, and a special education focus within our top rated, Gold Award recognized preschool program.
As part of the Building Brighter Futures plan, we will welcome students from Adlai E. Stevenson school next year. With increased enrollment, our scholars will enjoy a higher-quality student experience including additional courses beyond art, music, and physical education, along with expanded sports.
