Mission
Mary B. Martin School, named for
the first black woman elected to the
Cleveland Board of Education, is
located in the heart of Cleveland’s
Hough neighborhood. We provide a
comprehensive education with a focus
on English language arts, mathematics,
science, social studies and the visual and
musical arts.
We emphasize technology-based
learning and seize every opportunity for
scholars to learn outside the classroom,
including field trips to nearby arts and
cultural institutions in University Circle.
Special Programs
Our partnerships strengthen our scholars.
• University Circle, Inc. creates a vital link between our teachers, students, and
families and the collections and live performance resources at University Circle.
Field trips to nearby museums and institutions provide students with real-world
applications of their classroom lessons.
• PNC Bank’s “Grow Up Great” program provides professional development in arts
and extended learning activities to our Pre-K.
• Case Western Reserve University, Beech Brook, and Murtis Taylor Human
Services System support our health and wellness programming.
• After-School All-Stars Ohio offers a variety for after-school activities for scholars
in grades 1-7 to keep children safe and to help them discover new interests.
• True2U mentoring and career awareness prepares eighth-grade students for the
transition from middle school to high school—and beyond.
